I was reading about all of the anti-aging features of autophagy, which comes from fasting for 36 hours. Autophagy is the turnover of cells. Tossing out the old junk and replacing it with fresh stuff! So I decided I want to try it. I am about halfway through a 36 hour fast right now.
I am also going to include a 16 hour dry fast, meaning not even water. That has many health benefits as well, including increasing neural networking and brain plasticity. That sounds wonderful!
So far I am feeling great! And I slept well too.
In other news, I am continuing with chemical-free living. I have been washing my body, face, and hair with diluted white vinegar. It is working great and helps retain the natural acid mantle. I brush my teeth with baking soda, which works excellently and maintains the very slight alkalinity the mouth should have for dental and gum health.
I have been using lanolin for moisturizer. It too has a slightly acid pH to keep the acid mantle intact.
I just use Zuzu eyeliner for cosmetics. No other cosmetics or hair products. I remove the eyeliner with just water.
For cleaning dishes and glass, I use diluted white vinegar. I wipe the hardwood floors with soft cloths and just water. I wash my laundry in baking soda and/or diluted white vinegar. I only wear and use all natural fibers: wool, cotton, linen, or silk.
The only chemical I am using is contact lens solution. Ideally, I would like to train my eyes to no longer need artificial correction. When I take early retirement, that is one of my goals!
