I thought it might be nice to set up a Question and Answer page for people that might have questions, comments, or support regarding following a zero carb keto diet! Note that I am not a doctor, this is not medical advice, just my own personal opinion! And of course, please keep comments respectful and civil! To participate, please click "Enter Your Comment" under the Comments area below on this page. Then I will get a notification and can reply to you! Keto Carnivore: Venturing Back to Red Meat, Adjustments for Crohn's

I have really been enjoying the piscivore diet, but I am ready to try red meat again. I am still afraid of another bad Crohn's attack and concussion. So I am making a few changes.

First, I am quitting seltzer water. I love it, but I read that the gas bubbles can trigger Crohn's flares.

Second, I will eat small portions. If I am still hungry, I will wait at least an hour before eating a second serving. I read that small meals work best for Crohn's.

I have quit vodka as well. After a bad Crohn's attack and fainting last year, I had decided to dilute vodka when I had it. But for some months now I just quit altogether for my gut health.

Lastly, I will no longer add reserved fat to my lean meats. Instead, I will eat them with naturally fatty cuts, such as beef sweetbreads, tongue, or ribs. Along the same line, I also will not eat any visible fat. I read that fatty red meat can cause flares. I have had that problem before, also with fatty poultry. I target 50/50 fat to protein by calorie. That is not too lean to cause constipation or hypothyroid, but not too fatty to cause Crohn's flares and diarrhea.

Wish me luck that these changes work!
