Question and Answer Page!

I thought it might be nice to set up a Question and Answer page for people that might have questions, comments, or support regarding following a zero carb keto diet! Note that I am not a doctor, this is not medical advice, just my own personal opinion! And of course, please keep comments respectful and civil! To participate, please click "Enter Your Comment" under the Comments area below on this page. Then I will get a notification and can reply to you! You will be given an option to receive notification by email of any followup replies to your comment. Thank you for reading! Grassfed lamb ribs with sea salt

Goldilocks and Golden Mean

In a previous post, I mentioned that I had experimented with reducing protein intake since I read that it should only be 1 g protein intake per 1 kg body weight. Then I discovered that is not enough for zero carbers, because we need some extra protein for our body to convert to glucose (gluconeogenesis).

However, too much protein intake, just like too much carb intake, leads to the same problems relating to too much circulating glucose.

So, the trick is the find the Goldilocks protein intake! Not too much, but not too little!

I think found it! And interestingly enough, it seems to be around the Golden Mean (1.6). I've been averaging around 1.5 in terms of protein intake in grams in proportion to my body weight in kilograms (66g protein per day). And I've been feeling great! Plenty of energy, happy, good digestion and elimination. I think I found the sweet spot for protein intake!

I think it's interesting how useful the Golden Mean can be. I mentioned in a previous post that I think the Golden Mean is a good number to target for blood glucose to blood ketone ratio as well!

Maybe Goldilocks was seeking the Golden Mean!
