Keto Carnivory: Best Carnivore Sources for Vitamin D, Vitamin A; Dairy is Bad, Bad News

I have been thinking a lot lately about vitamin D and vitamin A. Both of these are supposed to be good for repigmenting vitiligo, of which I still have a few patches. I was hoping to repigment some of my white hair too.

I thought by doing stand-up tanning sessions, that would help me with vitamin D. But when I looked at the tanning machine yesterday, I saw that it is only UVA rays. And apparently UVB rays are the ones with which we make vitamin D. So that has been a waste of time to do that! Edited to add: I found that certain tanning machines do have UVB! So that is great!

I think instead I will go back to eating some fatty fish along with my usual mutton. I did some study and I found that the fish that are fatty enough for a ketogenic ratio, that are still low enough in mercury to be safe, are: Atlantic mackerel, Pacific herring, American shad, and salmon with skin. So I will look for these today!

Another thing that is supposed to help repigment skin and hair is vitamin A. So I think that I should go back to eating some liver sometimes. I did not ask for the liver whenever I had my ram processed. I should have. The problem is that the liver is so lean. I need to make a paté by grinding it with added fat. But I don't have a grinder or food processor. So maybe I should get one, and add some healthy fats such as reserved lamb fat.

(I love paté. I used to eat braunschweiger all the time as a child. My friends thought I was so weird.)

I just thought of a better option: cod liver (not the oil). I have some cans of Icelandic cod liver. It is high in both vitamin A and D, and omega 3s as well. It is moderately low in mercury (looks like average is .17ppm), and is plenty fatty on its own for ketosis!

So that works great! And I already have it!

In other news, I really regret having dairy recently. Dairy screws up my gut something terrible. I need to remember that! It is not lactose intolerance, I have tested for that. But something about it just causes terrible constipation for me (casomorphin, or calcium?), even fatty dairy, like butter and whole cream. So as tempting as it is, I just need to stay the heck away from it!
