Plant Matter Repercussions

I had not had any plant matter in a really long time. All was well.

Then I had run low on fatty cuts, so I thought I might try coconut, since so many other keto'ers use coconut for fat.

As usual, I had no symptoms at first. Which relayed a false sense of security, and I ate more.

Well, sure enough, two days later my colitis kicked in and I had gut pain and bloating. I hate how it often takes a day or even two days to feel the effects! I remember back when I was trying to figure out what was the source of my gut issues, that in particular made it hard to pinpoint!

But now I know that plant matter is the culprit.

There are so many compounds in plant matter that make them hard to digest. Of course, that is on purpose! Plants use these toxins to keep from being eaten!

I have learned my lesson, that's for sure. I got myself some fatty cuts and will not venture into plant matter any more! It is just not worth the pain!
