Keto Carnivore: Piscivore: Mercury or Not To Worry?

So I was thinking more about my all seafood diet (besides beef marrow fat). And I started to worry a little about mercury.

I had picked up some swordfish at the local health food market, and I had heard that it is high in mercury.

I came across this mercury calculator which shows you the levels in various seafood:

I found that swordfish is ridiculously high in mercury! So I won't purchase that anymore. The best choices are some of my favorites! Mollusks and small crustaceans: scallops, clams, mussels, oysters, squid, shrimp, crawfish, and also salmon. So that's great!

I also came across some articles talking about how the selenium in fish helps offset the mercury. So that is a relief as well!

I decided to get some blood tests today since I like to do that once a year and I was overdue. Amongst the usual complete blood count, cholesterol, etc., I ordered an osteocalcin test to check bone turnover, and a mercury test just to get a baseline! I wanted to get another trivascular test, but they couldn't fit me in. Last time they said I really didn't need to come back for three years anyway.

I'll let you know the results, probably will get them early next week!
