I am excitedly figuring out the best plan to do my seafood-based ketogenic carnivore diet!
I will continue to shop at the Asian grocery store, picking up sanma mostly, and also some lean fish such as prawns, squid, clams, mussels, and cuttlefish. I just plan on having marrow fat on the side with those. I will splurge and use their dried pollock for my packed lunches, along with marrow fat. The dried pollock is just so easy to pack! I think I might stop getting their mackerel fillets though, because they are salted, and I don't like that. Since giving up salt about four months ago, I've been feeling great and my digestion has been so good! And now salted items just don't appeal to me.
I might also buy some salmon at the local health food market, since that won't need any fat on the side. They also have scallops, which I love, so I might treat myself to those too.
I will need to make sure to have plenty of marrow fat on hand, since a lot of these items are very lean. That way I can get enough calories, and have enough fat intake to remain in ketosis. I also have Icelandic cod liver too, for good fat.
For my zero-carb cat, he is doing great on Tiki's After Dark series wet food. But I am working on finding some freeze-dried chicken pieces for him to have while I am out and about all day. I have a feeder I had gotten for him that has a resizeable opening. I'm hoping that maybe I can have it feed him a small portion of freeze-dried chicken around mid-day while I am out, so he doesn't have to go 12 hours without food. That way he can maintain his carnivore diet too! Wish me luck!
