Glorious Fatty Meat!

I had been trying to be plastic-free since February, and had been mostly eating canned grassfed beef. I made beef rillettes with it, which were delicious, but rather lean. 

I did find a few canned option for fattier meat, corned mutton and tushonka mutton. The corned mutton was OK, and I haven't tried the tushonka mutton yet.

But I started to get really strong smelling urine and toe cramps, so I decided maybe it was due to too much protein (although it could also have been due to changing to pink Himalayan salt instead of my usual sea salt. Both issues have gone away since I changed back to sea salt and higher fat!)

So yesterday I met with one of my local farmers and picked up a really great haul of pasture-raised pork and grassfed beef. I savored the fresh ground pork at dinner yesterday, oh goodness! So delicious! And this morning, I had the most wonderful, amazing breakfast of roasted grassfed oxtail. Oh heavens!

Life is good!
