Zero Carb Keto: Replacing Fake with Real

Zero Carb Keto

Replacing Fake with Real

I was realizing yesterday that all of these things that I am doing lately such as switching to natural products instead of products containing or enclosed in plastic, or switching to non-electric entertainment, are the same concept. I am replacing the fake with the real!

Somewhere in recent times, snake oil salesmen convinced us not only that we should desire fake things over real things, but they persuaded us that they were actually better than the real things.

For example, they convinced people that acrylic fabrics are actually better than beautiful and breathable all natural fibers. They convinced people that cheap plastic combs are better than amazing horn combs. They are even convincing people that fake meat is better than real meat! They are convincing people that virtual entertainment is better than actually being outside in nature. And they have convinced us that dealing with robots is better than dealing with people.

It is amazing to me when I start to really think about it! Fake food is everywhere, so completely pervasive. For example, a friend stopped in at Starbucks Coffee yesterday and ordered their "egg bites," which at first glance seem to be just small globs of scrambled eggs. But the mile-long ingredients list contains not only cellulose (which is not digestible, but is commonly added to cheeses now!) but also various gums (also commonly added to dairy products now), carrageenan, starches, maltodextrin, and even something called natamycin which is apparently an anti-fungal (!). And I think that it is common now for scrambled eggs served in fast food and even sit-down restaurants to be filled with other things besides just eggs. What's wrong with just plain eggs?

Another example is packaged meat. I have read that vendors are now injecting raw meats with brines and solutions to supposedly help them keep a better color and moister texture. So you can no longer assume that the packaged pork chops are just pork chops with no additives!

And of course, they have convinced us that packaging our meats in plastic is better than packing them in simple paper.

But now they are convincing people to forego animal products altogether, and that fake meat and dairy is actually better. That fake leather is better. That fake wool and fake silk is better

It is really amazing when you start to realize just how much we have given up, and actually been convinced that we are better off because of it!
